Joe Carr heads Karpeh Street Community, Appeals for Total Involvement

first_imgFormer goalkeeper, Kun Dixon, (Joe Carr), told a gathering of community members Saturday to give his administration support to improve conditions in the Karpeh Street Community.Speaking during the installation of officers for the next three years, Carr said, “I’m coming on board at a time our people need a leader with a vision and who can inspire them to get things done.”Held at the residence of the late Toby Brown in Karpeh Street, near New Kru Town, Monrovia, Carr promised to be a good servant.He said his administration will embark on three necessary ventures, which are to improve latrine and water facilities, empower the youths and seek scholarships for students as well as a loan scheme for women.He, however, pointed out that the new administration’s objectives would be realized only with the support of the community.Installing officer, New Kru Town Governor Alice B. Wiah urged the new leaders not to disappoint the community.She appealed to the women to work with their men and promised her support to all meaningful projects.Earlier, a political activist Mr. Robert Teah promised 100 scholarships for school-going children, along with LD1, 000.00 to enable the new administration to open a bank account.Chairman Joe Carr was a goalkeeper for several football clubs in New Kru Town, and was good at saving penalty kicks, friends told the Daily Observer.Others who were installed along with him were Secretary General Ms. Cecelia Russell and Financial Secretary Daniel D. Wea.
