However, detectives didn’t believe her as it was clear to them that the gun was being stored in the bin and was not discarded. The court heard from Ms O’Riordan’s father who said she was vulnerable, had no previous convictions and that this was not in character.“I took her out of that situation and she is not a danger to anybody or never was”, he said.Adjourning the case to February 12, Judge O’Donnell said that “given the bizare set of circumstances, he wanted a probation report to “get the full picture before finalising the matter”. Personally, I have been amazed by the coverage that I get from social media. My career in Europe really took off because of Youtube and then China, Russia and other Asian countries followed.I’ve enjoyed working with creative people making videos and capturing live performances in the hope of reaching into people’s lives and surprising them.Since the ’50s the guitar has been at the forefront of mainstream music evolution. A look at the singles charts today revealed no guitar sounds in the top 10. Will the guitar sound lead the way again in mainstream popular music culture?I think the guitar is still the coolest instrument on the planet. I also think there are more players than ever out there. Perhaps pop music is not as riff-driven as it used to be but there is still a lot of great players taking their music all over the world. We are all thankful that people still love to come and see live music being performed by passionate artists.Lookin’ forward to at the Lime Tree Theatre this Sunday July 24?I haven’t played in Limerick for quite a few years and I’m looking forward to the concert on Sunday. I have a lot of fond memories of playing my first shows in Ireland to really enthusiastic music lovers. Ireland is one of the birth-places of great music.Tommy Emmanuel performs at Lime Tree Theatre this Sunday July 24. Linkedinlast_img read more

Live Nation Cancels NYC Hip Hop Performances After Irving Plaza Shooting

first_imgRenowned venue Irving Plaza was the site of an unfortunate tragedy last week, as one fan at a T.I. concert was killed after a shooting inside the venue. Owned and operated by Live Nation, the corporate ticket promoter has cancelled a number of shows at both Irving and their Gramercy Theatre in response to the shooting.Irving Plaza was scheduled to host Joey Bada$$ tonight, but that show has been cancelled. Additional performances at Irving, including Mac Miller on Friday and Vince Staples on Saturday, were also cancelled. Furthermore, Live Nation cancelled Appetite for Destruction’s Friday night show, Black Pistol Fire’s Saturday night show, and YG’s Monday night show at Gramercy Theatre. While safety at concerts is of course an important concern, it’s just as troubling to think that one incident could set off a chain reaction that thwarts live music in New York City. Hopefully these measures are temporary while new security checkpoints are implemented, but it’s interesting to look at the shows that were cancelled. Four of them, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Vince Staples, and YG, are hip hop artists, and the other two, Appetite for Destruction and Black Pistol Fire, have band names that are directly linked to guns (Appetite is a Guns N’ Roses cover band). Does this mean that the perceived threat of violence has outweighed the right for live music? It’s an interesting debate, certainly, but for now, these shows will not be happening.[H/T The Gothamist]last_img read more
